The parish council has a vacancy available for the role of a councillor for Rufford Ward following the resignation of a councillor.

The position initially was advertised by the parish council and borough council for the chance of a by-election. Ten electors have to write to the borough council for a by-election to occur; This was not fulfilled.

Due to this, the council is now asking for people to apply directly. The process is as follows:

Any applicants will undergo an interview process for the existing councillors to get to know you.
Following interview, the applicants will be invited to the next parish council meeting where they promote themselves for the final time for a maximum of 5 minutes during the public discussion.
The councillors will then vote through process of elimination to reach the co-opted candidate.
